Promoting Active, Healthy Lifestyles at Dame Dorothy Primary School

At Dame Dorothy Primary School, we believe sport and physical activity play a vital role in nurturing confident, resilient, and healthy young people. In line with the government’s School Sport and Activity Action Plan, we are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to enjoy at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day with a minimum of 30 minutes delivered during the school day, as recommended by the Chief Medical Officers.

To help us achieve this, we benefit from the PE and Sport Premium, a government initiative providing £320 million nationally to enhance the quality of PE, sport, and physical activity in primary schools. This funding allows us to enrich our curriculum and expand opportunities beyond it, building long-term, sustainable improvements tailored to the needs of our pupils.

At Dame Dorothy, we use this funding to promote a love of movement, encourage teamwork and fair play, and ensure every child regardless of ability  has the chance to participate, compete, and thrive. National surveys have shown the powerful impact of this funding across England, and we’re proud to say it continues to make a real difference in the lives of our children.
