Year 1

Hi Year 1,

I miss you all and hope you are all ok. I hope you are all sharing lots of lovely stories and playing lots of games with your families. I also hope you are finding the work packs helpful. Here are a few links to websites that you can play some games etc on. Stay safe everyone and hopefully we will see each other again soon. Mrs Horn x

Literacy

I hope you are doing lots of writing at home. Write a note to your adult, send a letter to your friend. Maybe they will write back. Can you tell them all about what you’ve been up to during the lockdown? In every piece of writing you do, remember to include your capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

Maths

The daily White Rose Maths is excellent. Do this every day if you can. Can you recognise all the numbers up to 100? Practise adding and subtracting up to 50 then 100 if you can. Make sure you keep practising how to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. Here are some links to websites where you can play some maths games.

Science

Use this website to find out about animals. Which animals live on a farm? What do they eat? What are their babies called? E.g. a baby cow is called a calf. Can you make a poster about your favourite pet and tell me all about it. What does it eat? Where does it sleep? How would I look after it? Does it need exercise?

Can you also find out about plants? What does a plant need to grow? What is each part of a plant called? Can you plant some seeds at home? I’d love to see some photos of what you manage to grow.

History

Florence Nightingale was a nurse who helped lots of people many years ago. Have a look on this website to see what you can find out about her. Can you write a report about her, telling me everything you have found out?
